Hey, it's been a while
on my life lately, where I've been, what I've been doing, and what's next
First, I want to thank you for reading my blog! It’s honestly insane that over 100 people care about what I have to say. I can’t believe that this is my life, and it is all thanks to you :)
I’ve been gone for over 3 months which is pretty surprising. When I found Substack, it was love at first sight. I was on it every day. It was nice to read what other people were writing and even writing myself. That’s why this was such a shock. I’ve never been off social media this much and it's nice to have a break from all the scrolling and comparing. Since being on an unintentional break, I’ve done some thinking about the first half of 2025 and where I want to be by the end of it. I thought we’d do some short reflecting together. Let me know how your year has been so far!
We’re starting off with May which was a pretty chill month. I moved out of my dorm and headed back home on the 1st. When I moved out of my dorm and saw that it looked just how it did before I moved in, I realized that I was exactly the same as I was a year ago. That was a scary realization. Freshman year was nothing like I expected it to be. I thought I’d be a completely different person by the end of it. More social, more productive, healthier. I wanted my summer to be one of change and growth. It was. The start of the summer was slow. I visited some family, went to the farmer’s market, and hit 100 subscribers on Substack (thank you).
June was the start of an eventful summer. I started the hiring process for my job as a camp counselor for special needs children. It was an interesting job and pretty insightful for my future career. I also did some traveling and remembered I had a library card. Sometimes I forget that I don’t have to spend money to enjoy myself. The mini trip I took didn’t hurt my pockets and I had a lot of fun. I spent time in nature and took time to relax and decompress. I should do it more often. I also renewed my library card for the first time in years. For a long time, I just bought books and if I didn’t like them, I’d give them away. It dawned on me that I could just check out the books to test the waters and then get a physical copy if I liked them. That’s what I did growing up, how could I forget? I spent the rest of the month working and preparing to move into my first apartment when I get back to school. It’s now August 1st and I’m excited for what the rest of the year has in store.
Firstly, I have a couple of academic goals for the year. I want to pass and actually study for all my classes, specifically statistics (my worst enemy). I never really studied for my classes last year and I was able to get away with it, but it’s not a good habit to have. I want to truly understand what I’m learning, not just learning to pass a class. I also want to maintain my 4.0 gpa. I’ve always been a victim of academic validation and I’ve been working on getting out of it, but it’s also nice to have something to keep me motivated. Moving on to my productivity goals, I want to work out and eat healthier. I have pretty good eating habits, but they could be better. I’m also not as active as I should be and I want to change that. Finally, my miscellaneous goals are to be more social, foster my creativity, and journal whenever I can or feel it’s necessary.
If you’ve made it to the end of this blog (I’m sure you did, considering how short this is lol), I want to thank you again for your support. I’m working on something new that will be out (hopefully) by the end of this month! I’m doing somewhat of a rebrand. I hope you stick around for it. Let me know how your summer has been and what you’re looking forward to for the rest of 2025!
